Pre-Appointment Recommendations
Preparing your body and skin properly is essential for a smooth, safe tattoo session and the best possible result. Please take time to follow these recommendations:
1. Rest and eat well
Get a full night’s rest before your appointment—being well-rested helps your body cope better with the physical stress of tattooing.
Eat a balanced, filling meal on the day of your session. This keeps your blood sugar stable and helps prevent dizziness or nausea.
Avoid arriving on an empty stomach or overly caffeinated.
2. Hydrate and moisturise your skin
For 3–5 days prior, drink plenty of water and apply fragrance-free moisturiser daily to the area that will be tattooed (coconut oil, CeraVe, or similar are great options).
Well-hydrated skin is more elastic and tolerates the tattooing process better.
Avoid sun exposure, sunburn, self-tanners, and excessive shaving or exfoliating in the days leading up to your appointment.
3. Be in good health
You must be feeling well and in good general health on the day of your appointment.
If you have any cold, fever, flu-like symptoms, or are taking antibiotics or recovering from illness, please inform me in advance so we can reschedule.
Tattooing compromised or inflamed skin increases risks and may negatively impact healing.
4. Avoid alcohol and blood thinners
Do not consume alcohol or take aspirin, ibuprofen, or other blood-thinning medications within 24 hours of your appointment.
These increase bleeding, which can interfere with tattooing and prolong healing.
5. Wear appropriate clothing
Choose loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the tattoo area.
For example, wear short sleeves or a tank top for arm tattoos, shorts for legs, or avoid high waistbands for lower back/hip work.
Dark fabrics are preferred in case of ink transfer.
6. Bring items for comfort
For longer sessions, feel free to bring a water bottle, light snack, headphones, or something to read or watch.
Staying comfortable and relaxed helps the session go smoothly and makes the experience more enjoyable.
